Festivál Laloran was a youth-based arts festival which ran from November 25th to December 10th as part of the International 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. For the past couple of months I’ve been working with local NGO Ba Futuru in collaboration with UN Women and a bunch of other organisations in preparation for the series of events. Over 100 youths got involved and shared their interpretation of the message through creative writing, art, photography, music, theatre and dance performances in key spots around Dili like main bus terminal Tasi-Tolu. It was incredible being able to take part and witness the fun and passion poured into it and the attraction it received from the general public.
Naturally, these events allowed opportunities to legitimately build on my creepy photography collection of old men and children.
